Sinus Grafting After Care
It is important to follow specific care instructions to enhance the success of your surgical procedure.

-
Avoid nose blowing, and drinking through a straw for the first 1 -2 weeks after your procedure.
-
After 24 hours, use Chlorhexidine based mouthwash or warm salt water (half a teaspoon of salt in half a glass of warm water) to rinse after eating or 2-3 times a day. When you mouth rinse,, do not rinse vigorously. Instead, simply head tilt with the mouthwash in place and hold for 30 seconds before spitting.
-
Avoid vigorous exercise or excessive alcohol for 24 hours as these can cause bleeding.
-
Refrain from smoking. You will benefit greatly from nicotine patches or substitutes for one week prior and three weeks post operatively.
-
Applying a cold compress to the area will help reduce swelling and aid healing. Apply for 5 minutes intervals.
-
Maintain fluid intake and proceed with a soft food diet until eating is comfortable.
-
Avoid hot food and drinks for 24 hours. Best foods are cold and soft, like yoghurt.
-
Do not use manual or electric toothbrush in the surgical area until directed by your doctor.
